Irene Cara would spend a total of SIX weeks at #1 before giving up the top spot to ‘Every Breath You Take’ by the Police in early July. ‘Every Breath You Take’ would then spend EIGHT weeks at #1 making it the #1 song for the entire year of 1983. ‘Flashdance’ would finish third on the year end chart for 1983 behind ‘Every Breath You Take’ and ‘Billie Jean’ by Michael Jackson.
