On this day in 1985: Bruce Springsteen married model and actress Julianne Phillips at Lake Oswego, Oregon. Julianne filed for divorce on Aug 30th 1988.

On this day in 1989: Bon Jovi went to #1 on the U.S. singles chart with “I’ll Be There For You.” It would spend one week in the top spot.

It was released as the third single from their 1988 album ‘New Jersey.’ It was written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora. The single hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #5 on the Mainstream Rock chart. it would be their 4th and final #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
