On this day in 1988: Led Zeppelin reunited for the Atlantic Records 40th anniversary party at Madison Square Garden, New York, appearing with Jason Bonham the son of John Bonham on drums. Other acts performing included Foreigner, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Genesis, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Wilson Pickett and Ben E. King.
Also on this day in 1988: Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine started a two week run at #1 on the U.S. singles chart with “Anything For You.”
The song appeared on their 1987 album, ‘Let it Loose.’ After years of fluctuating success in the United States, “Anything for You” marked a massive breakthrough for the group when it managed to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart on May 14, 1988, and remained there for two weeks. It marked the peak of the band’s success in the 1980s and was the first of three #1s for the band.
