In their rock n’ roll hall of fame worthy career, The Bangles have released five studio albums, ten compilation albums, one EP, twenty-five singles and three video albums.

On May 23, 1984 The Bangles released their debut studio album ‘All Over The Place’ on Columbia Records. The album was not a major commercial success, as it only went to #80 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart and did not produce a hit here in the U.S. BUT you know what we always say here in the attic, a song or album’s peak on the charts doesn’t always tell the full story. The album sold respectably, fueled by steady airplay on college stations and stayed on the Billboard Album Chart for 30 weeks. The album also earned the band an opportunity to open for Cyndi Lauper and Huey Lewis & The News and brought the band to the attention of Prince who would write ‘Manic Monday’, their first hit.

Two singles were released from this album: ‘Hero Takes a Fall’, which peaked outside the UK Top 40, and ‘Going Down To Liverpool’, written by Kimberly Rew of Katrina and the Waves, which won The Bangles the BPI Award, the British equivalent of the Grammy. The video for “Going Down to Liverpool” featured Leonard Nimoy, who plays the part of the band’s chauffeur.

‘All Over The Place’ set the stage for their boundless success that would come with their sophomore album ‘A Different Light’ two years later in 1986. Their rise from underground favorites to chart-busting stars began with this 80s treasure ‘All Over The Place.’ From ‘Hero Takes A Fall’ to ‘Restless’ to ‘More Than Meets The Eye’, ‘All Over The Place’ is just jam packed with gems and 80s ear candy.
