On this day in 1987: Starship started a two week run at #1 on the US singles chart with ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now’, taken from the film ‘Mannequin’, also a #1 hit in the UK.

Also on this day in 1987: U2 entered the US album chart at #7 with The Joshua Tree, making it the highest chart new entry in America for seven years. Frequently listed among the greatest albums of all time, The Joshua Tree is one of the world’s best selling albums of all time with over 25 million copies sold.
