On this day in 1983: Michael Jackson began his SEVENTH and final week at #1 on the U.S. singles chart with Billie Jean. It would be ranked the #2 song of the entire year of 1983 behind ‘Every Breath You Take’ by The Police. After ‘Billie Jean’ gave up the top spot to ‘Come On Eileen’ by Dexy’s Midnight Runners on April 23, 1983 (#1 for one week), Michael would return to the #1 position starting on April 30th 1983 for three weeks with ‘Beat It.’
