On this day in 1987: Florida real estate agent Vittoria Holman sued Motley Crue and their concert promoter for hearing loss allegedly incurred at a concert in December 1985. Holman and her daughter had front row seats less than 10 feet from the speakers. The case was settled out of court with the band’s insurance company paying Holman over $30,000.

On this day in 1989: New Kids On the Block went to #1 on the U.S. singles chart with “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever).” It would spend one week in the top spot.

It was released as the third single from the group’s second album, ‘Hangin Tough’. The lead vocals were sung by Jordan Knight. It was the group’s first single to reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 while peaking at #5 in the UK.

“I’ll Be Loving You (Forever)” rose from #56 to #41 the week of April 15, 1989 as “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” was descending from the Top 40. The single proved to be a popular single in the early summer of 1989, reaching #1 on June 17, 1989. The ballad boasted 6 weeks in the Top 10, 8 weeks in the Top 20, and 14 weeks in the Top 40.

Most of the music video for “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever)” was shot in Xavier High School In New York City. Small parts were filmed on the Williamsburg Bridge and the East River.
