This Day In Music, January 27th

On this day in 1984: Madonna made her first appearance in the U.K. when she appeared on C4 TV music program ‘The Tube’ performing ‘Burning Up’ and ‘Holiday’. The show was broadcast live from the Hacienda Club in Manchester.

According to Billboard Magazine, Madonna is the most successful solo artist in Hot 100 chart history (second overall behind the Beatles) and the most successful dance club artist of all time.
