On this day in 1983: Michael Jackson continued his run at #1 on the U.S. singles charts with Billie Jean. This would be the start of his fifth consecutive week in the top spot for Billie Jean and it would stay #1 for two more weeks, totaling seven weeks on top of the charts. It would go on to be the 2nd biggest hit of the year for 1983, finishing behind ‘Every Breath You Take’ by The Police which topped the charts for eight weeks that same year.
